Thad was so excited when he turned the system on and each section of heads came up in turn, and sprayed water like they were supposed to. He was so proud of himself, and I was proud of him! He had a little help digging the ditches and digging holes, but he did the majority of this massive project by himself


We went back and forth deciding whether to do sod or seed, but we finally decided that we'd seed, and take the money we would have spent on sod, to do some landscaping


So we seeded, and then prayed that the wind wouldn't blow our little babies into the air to fly around and seed our neighbor's yards. They all did sod anyway. In fact, they were probably all snickering when they saw us out there seeding! We were a little worried after 10, 11, 12, 13 days with no grass.


We had fun picking out flowers and shrubs, but were surprised at how quickly the cost adds up -- landscaping is expensive! But there's somethin about taking care of your yard and making it look pretty -- well, as pretty as it can be with no grass. It's gratifying. We figured, shoot, we may not have a yard, but we can at least get some flower beds in, right? And I love them! Even if everything looks really tiny next to the huge house. Haha. We could've gotten larger plants, but they are more expensive. So we figured we'll save $100, and three years down the road, we'll have full, luscious and colorful plants.


And lookie there: day 14 and little baby grasses started to grow! We were so excited about it all day. Now every morning when we wake up, we look at the yard to see how many more sprouts there are. Can't tell you how starved I am for some green!
